DAVID JANZEN (Click here for CV)
Born in Toronto, David completed his formal art education at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary in 1979, and now lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta. Featured in many exhibitions and collections in his nearly 30 year career as an artist, David's current paintings portray devices which peer over and into an ever changing urban/industrial skyline. Encouraging viewers to gaze above the horizon and witness recent evidence of settlement and habitation. His images suggest a proliferation of surveillance and communication instruments - depictions of a wired dystopia; technology, hope for a secure and orderly world. Safe. Protected. A panorama of weatherproof instruments, poles and cables held together with fear and faith.
